RUN AND RIDE ACTIVITY
The "Run and Ride" event, organized by the District Health Office (DHO) with supportfrom local organizations, was a vibrant celebration of health, fitness, andcommunity. Hundreds of participants came together for a fun-filled day,starting with an exciting run followed by a thrilling cycling race. The eventaimed to promote healthy living, with health stations along the route offering free check-ups and fitness advice.

WORLD HEALTH DAY
The District Health Office (DHO) organized world health day 2024 with the aim of raising awareness on critical health issues and promoting global health initiatives. This day focused on uniting efforts to address local and global health challenged, encouraging communities prioritize health and well-being.

International Women's Day
On March 8th, the Directorate of Health Services, in collaboration with the District Health Office Islamabad Capital Territory (DHO-ICT), organized a special event to celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme "Empowering Women for a Healthier Future." The highlight of the event was a certificate distribution ceremony to honor the contributions of the female polio workforce involved in the Polio Eradication Initiative Program in Islamabad.

WORLD POPULATION DAY
The celebration of World Population Day was organized by the District Health Office Islamabad. During the event, Dr. Zaeem Zia highlighted that “population is a valuable asset but can become a liability if its potential is not fully utilized, stressing that population growth is one of Pakistan's biggest challenges and requires immediate and focused attention.” He further emphasized the need to reduce the fertility rate and invest in the nation's youth.

BIG CATCH-UP
The District Health Office Islamabad, in collaboration with the esteemed partners such as UNICEF, WHO, Jhpiego, and Gavi, officially launched the Big Catch-Up Campaign at the District Health Office in G-9 Markaz, Islamabad. The Big Catch-Up Campaign aims to vaccinate children under the age of five who missed essential vaccinations for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative, a part of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), seeks to ensure every child is protected against diseases, promoting healthier and more resilient communities.


World Contraceptive Day
Honorable Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, Coordinator to the PM on Health, graces the occasion. A strong advocate for family planning, Dr. Malik emphasized the importance of this merger, recognizing the role of frontline healthcare warriors who overcome social barriers to address this critical yet often taboo topic. The merger of health and population services, a landmark achievement by Zaeem Zia and the NHSRCPK stands as a role model for the entire country.


Family Planning and Population Management
The All Pakistan Women Convention on Family Planning was held on October 16, 2023, in Islamabad, organized by @nhsrcpk and @unfpa.
The District Health Office's female staff participated, and Dr. Zaeem Zia received a shield from Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan for supporting the event's success.


Inauguration ceremony of CHC G-13
The new Community Health Center in G-13, Islamabad, was inaugurated with Dr. Muhammad Zaeem hosting and Dr. Abdul Qadir Patel as chief guest, joined by WHO and Health Ministry representatives.
A plantation activity and remarks highlighted the commitment to community well-being. The center will provide primary healthcare services.



SNID Campaign
The District Health Officer Islamabad and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (East), officially inaugurated the SNID campaign in December 2024 at the Islamabad Bus Terminal, 26 Number Chungi.
During the event, they administered polio drops to children, including those who had arrived from other cities. This significant initiative aimed to protect children from polio and bring Pakistan closer to achieving a polio-free status.


Handing Taking Ceremony
A 50 kW hybrid solar system was officially handed over by UNICEF’s Chief of Health to the District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad at the Rural Health Center, Barakahu, marking a significant milestone in sustainable healthcare. Installed by Solar Sigma with UNICEF’s support, the system ensured that the center began operating on solar energy, providing sustainable and uninterrupted power for improved healthcare services.

ART COMPETITION
Jhpiego Pakistan, in collaboration with the District Health Office, organized the "HER Climate" event, focusing on healthy communities and environmental resilience. Students from various universities participated, and key guests, including the DHO Islamabad and NUST officials, attended. The event highlighted the power of art in raising awareness about environmental and health issues. The top ten winners were awarded certificates and trophies for their outstanding contributions.

Inauguration of the New Incinerator
H.E. Federal Health Minister, Dr. Nadeem Jan, inaugurated the new incinerator at CHC Kirpa. The project, a collaboration between the District Health Office Islamabad, WHO Pakistan, and the Federal Directorate of Immunization, features a 1000 kg capacity, is located away from the population, and is environmentally friendly.

A new EPI Training Hall in BHU Jhang Syedan was inaugurated by WHO and local health officials. The facility will provide training space for lady health workers. Medical Health Camp
DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon visited a medical health camp and participated in a plantation drive at Golra Sharif.
He commended the District Health Office's efforts to improve ICT health facilities.

Marathon
The 2023 Islamabad Marathon partnered with the District Health Office (DHO) of Islamabad to promote polio awareness. Dr. Zaeem Zia, DHO Islamabad, along with his team, actively participated in the 42-kilometer marathon, using the event as a platform to raise awareness about polio prevention and eradication efforts among the general public. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of teamwork, community involvement, and public health initiatives in combating this preventable disease.

World Immunization Week 2024
UNICEF and FDI Pakistan commemorated World Immunization Week 2024 with @nhsrcpk and WHO. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Technical Director FDI, and Dr. Zaeem Zia, DHO Islamabad, attended as chief guest and guest of honor, respectively. Vaccinators were honored with shields for their contributions, alongside awards to Dr. Shazia Gul and Dr. Zaeem Zia. Dr. Zia expressed gratitude for the vaccinators' dedication.
